A quick and hopefully simple question. I'm just trying to identify which bolt this is (see picture). The nut has shaken off and the bolt keeps drifting out. The thread has been damaged so it needs replacing rather than sticking on a new nut. The bike is a 2012 bullet C5

I'm thinking it's item 13 in this 'frame'section but the illustrations look nothing like the actual bike.

The length of the bolt should be a bit of a clue. Plus one is an 8mm bolt and the other is a 10mm bolt.

Ring Hitchcocks, they are very good at sorting out this sort of problem. Just measure the bolt first to give them a clue.

Thanks for your response. Much appreciated.

Definitely 10mm. It goes through the bottom of the engine block, all the way through to the other side of the frame and the nut fixes behind where the downpipe meets the silencer.

Can't really think which other bolt it may be, but thought it best to check.

While I have you, can you think of any good reason why I shouldn't fit the bolt the other way round (ie right to left side rather than left to right), My logic is, should the nut ever shake off again, any drifting of the bolt would be limited by the downpipe.

Pete- i'm reluctant to remove the bolt to measure incase the engine drops down a fraction & I wouldn't easily be able to get the new one in.

I might be a bit late here but was going to add, put a car jack and maybe a bit of wood under the engine, open jack until it touches, then a quarter turn (or half a pump) more. this will support the engine weight and with careful adjustment, can make lining up the holes much easier.
