About to change oil in my Classic Efi. The Indian YouTube's that I have watched show 3 drain plugs, I can only find 2. I would welcome your guidance. Thanks in anticipation.

My EFI has two underneath and the oil filter housing on the right hand side of the engine.

The earlier engines only came with two drain plugs. The latest ones have an additional one so the1/2 pint that sits under the crank can be removed

Beamish, don't overfill it - just as bad as underfilling. Measure what comes out and replace with the same volume. Then run it for 5 minutes on level ground on the centre stand - NOT in the garage with the doors shut or you won't survive to come back on here and tell us you've done the oil change successfully! Then let it stand for 5 minutes and check the level in the sight glass (half way between top and bottom marks). Job's a good 'un.

Both plugs are supposed to be fitted with copper washers although they may not leave the factory with them. The rear one is p/n 144846. The suction filter cover O-ring is p/n 570057 but may need to be a thicker 30mm OD x 2.5mm as the original rattles around loose in the groove.

The oil pumps merrily suck oil when it is a little more than half filled. The oil has to be circulated before the sight glass can be read. Hence it is better to be somewhat under filled than to go over the max on the sight glass. The correct level is midway, not to the top mark. It takes about an eggcup to go from bottom to top mark. The marks are to be read something like 3-5 minutes after switching off, if you wait overnight you'll see a lot more oil drained down. The sight glass is not terribly accurate, you'll never see the same level twice. So if there is oil in the glass and an air bubble above it, you're good to go.

Unless anyone is anal about "originality" what is wrong with dowty washers for the drain plugs?
