Hi,

My bike was supplied with a Lycett seat - how do you remove the seat?

The rear springs were easy but the front t-bracket defies all attempts to remove. Do you peel back the sides of the seat to access the nuts holding the top of the t-bracket or simply detach the fuel tank and unwind the entire seat?

Have you tried just pulling it backwards after disconnecting the rear springs?

Yes, it is not possible just to pull the seat backwards - that does not happen with the Lycett seat.

There is a front T-bracket that bolts to the U-bracket on the frame. The T-bracket has a bolt running through but the nuts are covered by the sides of the saddle on each side. The nut that holds the vertical bolt of the T-bracket is hidden inside the U-bracket on the frame. It is clearly marked in the catalogue.

It does of course depend on the seat but the original Lynette cover was held on with metal tabs wrapped round the seat frame, Papasmurf if the front just came away by moving backwards I think anyone riding the bike would be at severe risk of falling off every time they opened the throttle, even on a Bullet.

Something to look at might help?

The one I just posted does NOT have the T piece, just a large nail which would be replaced by a bolt, to lower it all down a bit. -C

I think the correct answer after all that, is simply to move the "leather" cover away from the bolt head/nuts and undo them. (That's where the nail head emerges in the picture.)

And yes, on the pictured one, there were flexible flat tabs to unfold from the cover to help you get in there. They don't, of course, show in the picture, as the cover is removed....

After taking a second look, it is obvious the tags holding the cover have been unshipped and removing the cover either side of the T-bracket is the only option.

The Lycett is being replaced with a 3/4 trials seat with an additional gel cover, essential for long adventures.
