Hi guys I don't know if has been asked before ,. I have a 2009 efi trails which has covered 14000 t miles with no trouble at in fact it's been a joy but now as I have just purchased a motorhome and with a view to have some longer Hoildays with Enfield behind, iam thinking of having hitchcocks efi 535 upgrade fitted the reason being my wife and I are unfortunately no lightweight s and was thinking the extra power / torque would help , but not being any mechanical a do not wish to jeperdise the bikes reliably which so far has been excellent

If you are contemplating doing your own spannering then with your limited expertise it might be better left as is.
Others will come along shortly with perhaps more helpful things to say :)

Thanks for reply but will get hitchcocks to do the work , my concern is will it still be reliable as it has been so far

Why not drop Hitchcocks an email? I'm sure they'll give you honest advice.

Have fun with your new motorhome - I travel around France every year for my 2 week summer holiday in mine, but unfortunately not with my Enfield in tow.

Irrespective of who does your 535 upgrade get them to balance the crank on the ci motors 535 piston is about 25gm heavier than the 500 one.see if you can find someone with a proper balancing machine makes a lot of difference to the vibes. Good luck.

Not sure scotty about that. With the heavy flywheels used in the Enfield engines there is little need to worry about rebalancing the cranks when fitting alternative pistons or over-size pistons or even alternative con-rods.

I made a similar inquiry to Hitchcocks recently, and they said it wasn't necessary to re balance the crank for either the high comp piston or the 535.

500, 535, the benefit is so small it will be hard to tell the difference, why change a previously reliable bike? Plus the cost involved for such a small power increase, I personally would only consider it if the engine needed work on the top end.

I'm with Revband. The gains will be pretty small for the cost.

Me too. The 535 is only 7% bigger than the standard bike. A 7% increase in very little power doesn't amount to much.
