Hi there y'all out there in the whirl...have any of you fitted the 'universal' fitting kit for the Givi range of monokey topboxes?
I mean fitted to our hosts rack #92700 which was attached to my Effie when I bought her late last year.
My kit just arrived in the post and before starting I wondered if anyone can offer words of advice maybe?
Problem areas to look out for?
Anything before I put spanners to nuts
Packing? etc etc.
- Cheers

I fitted mine overhanging the front of the rack to reduce leverage which doesn't (IMHO) look too out of place with the V47 fitted. However with 9Kgs in the box the front end ended up a little on the light side and on occasion would lift whilst riding over rough ground.
The cover plate can occasionally produce a high pitched buzz. Something under the plate would be better than between it and the box which is what I've done as a temporary fix.

ric - Thanks man! - Great pics too, I didn't realise you could position it forwards or back on the rack as you've done. I've not even opened the box for the fitting kit yet!
So you say that the central plate needs some insulation against vibration under it when it's being installed? Like electricians tape around the bars of the rack, or something more substantial?
Your mounting looks cool though!
Thanks again!

The thin cover that hides the 'W' clamps inside the main block is the bit which vibrates, it's only held in place with a couple of small screws. Should make sense when you unpack the fixing kit. Now you mention it I did put tape on the rack bars to protect them from possible clamp damage.
I fitted the V47 for my North Coast500/LandsEnd trip but for the next jaunt I'll probably take some panniers as well just to keep the overhung weight down.

I've removed the plate and now put the packing piece underneath
Hopefully you can see the fixings, two placed at the front to stop it moving back and forth and one on each inner bar to prevent it moving left and right.
