JB Weld was my friend when I needed to repair a tank. Still holding up fine 6 years later.

Hi,
have you checked that it is actually a hole around the tap boss rather than petrol leaking past the tap thread itself?
My tank has had both, for the leak around the tap it was simply a case of making sure the tap was properly tightened against the dowty seal. Springing a proper (pin hole) leak was another matter. If JB Weld holds, all well and good, I was fortunate enough to find someone locally who could weld and pressure test the tank for £20, very little damage to the paint job, though that had already started to lift from the tap leak...

Hi Adrian
Who did you get to do that? A pal of mine is after exactly those services.

I'm fairly adept at blowing holes in sheet steel with a welding set, so when I needed some MIG welding done recently I phoned a few garages. They cam back with they all sent such work out to one bloke on the local industrial estate. Ask local garages etc, who do they use?

In answer to Count Johnny, it was Ted Poole Motorcycle Restoration Services near Southampton (just off the M27, J7), if that's any use to your pal.
