Hi all does the chisel pointed selector assy the one you screw in for gear select have a spring loaded plunger, also how far out from the main part of this does the chisel point protude on mine the btm of chisel point is level with the body only sticks out about 5 to 6 mil.is this right seems it should be spring loaded.

Scotty, I have found that the plunger can rust solid in it's body, this is because (I think) it sits high in the gearbox above the oil level and is prone to damage by condensation. If it is solid, and you should be able to test it by pressing the chisel end against a surface, replace it. You might be able to free it up but the spring will be rusted already and will fail fairly soon anyway.

I've not actually handled one but it should be spring loaded or there's not a lot of point it being there. It seems to come as an assembly. CAN you strip it down?
