I am having a problem with a lack of adjustment facility with the rear brake lever on my new Continental. I need to set the lever in a lower position than is obtainable with the standard fittings and wonder if anyone has had a similar problem and if so what solutions, if any, are available (short of making a complete new lever! )

When I started to ride my CGT I to found the rear brake lever awkward to use, I felt it needed to be further out and down lower than adjustment would allow, The problem seemed to be my size eleven feet, so I now ride with my feet further back on the foot pegs, I ride with the foot peg in between my toes and the balls of my feet, In this position I have no problem with the brake lever.

I found that the rear brake lever sat too high for me. I took the assembly apart and drilled a small hole in the shoulder that limits how far the lever returns and screwed a small self tapper into the hole. This made the lever sit lower and after adjusting the brake light switch and the push rod thing that goes up into the master cylinder things are much improved.

Why do we ride with the footpeg in the instep? If you ride horses the stirrup goes under the ball of your foot.

Good idea, KC1961 - how do I fit a horse in the garage?. Seriously, now that you have explained how you sorted your footbrake I can see the cure and will take the medicine shortly. ( Just sorting a self-tapper.)
