hi ive heard of people using an ngk oil filter on their royal enfields to increase oil flow to top end. I was wondering if anyone has done it here and if so what model filter fits or is there another good one around that works. its just that im living in a remote area and cant get the standard one down here for a few weeks
thanks

Hmmm. Well, here we go. I don't know where you got your information from but I suspect a leg-pull! Altering the oil filter will not increase oil flow to the top end. NGK do not appear to make oil filters but even if they do I'd wait and get the right one. The filter is too important to take chances with. If you can't get one straight away you could wait or just do an oil change and swap the filter later. Why not buy 2 and have a spare, cheap enough.

Dragonmaster - order 90055D from our hosts and in the morning you will receive the correct filter + all O rings etc and all for a tenner. You can't be THAT far off grid can you? And whoever told you about an NGK filter for RE were giving you the full house mushroom treatment, mate. NGK make a wide range of jolly fine spark plug - but, I suppose if you left that out of the hole the top end would get a liberal supply of oil, tee hee!

Its just something i read on a couple forums. Mark NGK do sparkplugs . Airfilters and oil filters. I was just mainly wanting to find out if anything else is out there. Just cant get anything around where i live. Out in the middle of the country in Australia the nearest places to me that can get them is a 3 hour drive each way and are out of stock. Even if they did have any and i got them to post it im looking at a week probably closer to 2 before it would arrive. I guess ill probably have to order a few from here. Looks like quickest option at the moment.
Thanks

As all the modern models send ALL the oil via the rockers I can't see them running short. We're lucky to have any sort of filter, most designs of the period had a mesh filter at best.

DM, I cannot find a Google listing or reference for NGK oil filters. In any case, if you're in the middle of nowhere why would that be easier? Seriously, just get the right thing and buy spares of all the consumable items you need. Well, the usual ones anyway, throttle cable, clutch cable, bulbs, blah blah. I live 50 miles from Hitchcocks and still keep all the regular spares, when you need 'em you gotta have 'em!

With Hitchcocks next-day delivery speed in the UK I do not bother keeping spares.
If they get any quicker they'll be delivering bits before I order them. Hitchcocks are somewhat over an hour away from here, the dealership in Salisbury about an hour but they don't deliver.
***Never use a pattern part on the oil filter***, only ever use the manufacturer's part.
But there are some issues with the O-rings in the kit for post-2010 bikes. Hitchcocks may be able to sort that but an RE dealership may have access to the model-specific parts (sadly H do not have access to 2011-on part numbers). I have had to re-use some of the original O-rings; I intend to query the dealership I bought the bike from; some dealerships are better than others.
If you are really stuck you can flush a filter when doing an oil change. It is not ideal, it is old school. At least you get fresh oil in whilst waiting for the correct filter to arrive.
