'New' EFI side panels

I've purchased some parts from the 'used' parts section in this forum, namely a pair of Electra EFI side panels as the ones on my Effie had some weird-ass brass emblem thing set at such an obscure angle.....
Anyway, I fitted the 'new' ones yesterday and had to remove the old ones & locks before refitting them into the new panels.
After mucho struggling & heaving & not a small amount of bad language there they were! All neat & tidy ready for the locks to be removed by sweaty & stressed-out old me.....
The locks were held by a large nut which was little more than finger tight on all 4 panels! - They swapped over nicely by the way! After fitting the 2 locks to the replacement panels I then went to the bike to fit them..... They went on perfectly! Better than the originals! And they look better too! - The bits are still in the 'Used Part...' and are 'Used2415' if you wanna see.
Have any other RE owners fitted 2nd-hand bits that were better than the original?
