What else did you expect after the DVLA removed the need to display a tax disc on your vehicle resulting in a loss of revenue of some £90m.. With over 30,000,000 vehicles on UK roads a increase of this order recovers their losses. With vehicle tax, fuel duty, VAT, insurance premium tax, first registration fee and who knows what new tax they will think of next the road user has always been a cash cow for all governments.

The pleasures of an Historic Vehicle @ 0 tax rate. And it only has to be 40 years old (which is a lot newer than me!).

There are some copy-cat sites on the web which will charge you a fee to use an otherwise free service so when renewing road tax (or any other Government service) make sure you are on the genuine site!
