I bought a new Continental GT 535 about a month ago and I thought I better check the battery condition as it was only reading about 12 volts.
As per the Owner's Manual, i disconnected the neg & pos wires and removed the two screws that retain the carrier bracket. I wanted to check the electrolyte levels. Could I get the battery out? No I couldn't. It is such a tight fit with hardly any wiggle room vertically and horizontally. About a quarter to half an inch is all the wiggle room I would need to get it out.
So I charged the battery in situ ok, but at some point I will need to check the electrolyte levels. The battery is a Exide Freedom 12MF 14L-A2.
Any tips and advice on how to remove the battery would be greatly appreciated.

I have just been checking my CGT over and the battery is certainly a tight fit, and to be removed needs to be pulled slightly forward at the top and then lifted up at an angle to remove, it went in so must come out.
