I have a Forged Piston that has the 3 part Oil Ring. It has 2 thin rings and like a coil spring running between them. What is the correct way to remove them then put them back on and ensure they are correctly fitted? How do they work?
Cheers. Mick.

Hi Mick - the springy bit goes in first, followed by the thin rings, one at the lower part of the groove and the other at the higher part of the groove. I try to put the join in the spring part just off centre of facing the front and the gaps in each of the thin rings opposite each other adjacent to the gudgeon pin bosses. It doesn't matter which way up the ring sections go, or which goes at the top or bottom. Regards, Paul.
