Panier frames

I just bought a pair of panier frames which I hoped would fit my 55 frame. The lower attachment tube is too short. Could these have been made for the clipper de luxe ? Does anyone have any pictures for me to compare . Graham

Graham, the pre-1955 and post 1955 pannier frames are different to suit the re-designed frame. It sounds as if you have the later sort.

Thank you for the replies . Tha frame I have is the odd 55 one with the cast swinging arm mount , other than the slightly longer saddle tube I think it is identical to the earlier frame. If this is for the later frame it cannot use the rear subframe mounting points so , presumably has its own mounting points screwed to the frame. Photographs would be useful. Graham

Graham, I checked earlier and the later pannier frames won't fit the frame you describe. I have a 1955 350 Bullet on the go here so it's the same set up as you. The later frames have the same upper mounting but use a lug on the pillion footrest loop to support the shorter lower fixing arm. If you post an email address I can send you a picture.
