.................

The newest Royal Enfield, Himalayan which was launched earlier this year, is being recalled. Some dealers have already contacted owners. The reason of the recall is a faulty rocker shaft and the clutch assembly. Both these faulty parts are being replaced at dealerships for free of cost.

It is believed that all units of Royal Enfield Himalayan sold till date have been affected under this new recall.

This of course raises an interesting problem for our friend vill98, who has just imported one! I don't think his local dealer or MotoGB will be any help! Perhaps he could make a discreet enquiry via Les Harris... A.

The recall appears to now be official and applies to ALL Himalayans sold and ordered.

The high tappet noise and coarse performance have been traced back to a faulty rocker shaft and clutch assembly. RE will be fixing the bikes free of cost, and while some owners will be contacted for a recall, others will receive the fix on their first service.

RE will be replacing the faulty rocker units, which are responsible for the opening and closing of the valves. The new rockers are said to highly reduce the engine noise, and make for smoother engine performance as well.

The fix will also be implemented on the bikes that are yet to be delivered to their respective owners. The inconsistency might be caused due to the brand new nature of the Himalayan’s engine. The 411cc oil-cooled engine is an all new unit that was made specifically for the Himalayan.

Now isn't THAT handy? Nice one! (Don't suppose the factory still makes spares for pre-UCE models, does it?)
