Thanks Paul, that is not only helpful but very timely as I'm struggling with the carbs on my Mk2 Interceptor rebuild and would like to be on it at the Welsh Rally! I've had them ultrasonically cleaned twice and still got problems on one side. I will let you know how it goes. (My backup plan is a new pair of Premiers....)

Good video, thanks.
Guitar stings often make good probes. They're piano wire aka nickel-silver steel. The wound strings often have the inner core protruding which gets cut off when fitting to a guitar, an 18-thou wound 3rd (G) has a thin core and a wire wrap which makes holding it easy. The 1st or top-E strings are available down to 7-thou (banjo) or 8-thou but need a pin chuck to grip them. Guitarists regularly discard used strings...

My old mate "D" had a problem with his hearing aid, so he designed and made a tiny drill to go around the 90° bend in the earpiece and clear plastic swarf out; miracle he could hear again. Basically a bendy wire with a sharp tip, although he used bronze rod from a model shop, a guitar string can be given a sharp edge with the oblique cutters.
I've snapped too many tiny drills to risk poking one into a carb, they go down to 10-thou, 0.2mm or even smaller but they tend to be stubby and have a nasty habit of snapping off, difficult extraction.

I wondered about the colour coded tiny "bottle" brushes available from dentists, for cleaning between the teeth. They are available in different sizes and have nylon bristles on a fine wire core. Don't know if they will go through a pilot jet though.

Those interdental brushes are rather short plus I've had one snap off between my teeth and had to use needle-nose pliers to remove it. I have a set of small bottle brushes (from Lakeland?) that might clean the large opening of the duct but not the small jet orifice. I really wouldn't risk anything likely to get stuck or break off.
