Hi guys

I would like to know this Indian or Redditch Bullet. last owner said it from 1964 or 1967...
most of the parts seems like indian made ( tires/landlamp/handlebars/electrics/indicators etc )

Engine Number: G2/61329

!964 or 1967, eh? Either way, it is NOT from Redditch, whatever anyone says. Regards, Paul.

In fact the machine is a total ringer with those engine and frame numbers - since when was a so called G2 a 500, which this machine clearly is, along with its' Indian frame?

One huge give away for an Indian Bullet being passed off as Redditch is the big through bolt above the gearbox... There was an Indian Bullet cafe racer on Gumtree recently where the advertiser was trying it on. The pre '56 Redditch frames are similar in shape, and Indian Bullet owners have been known to transplant their engine, gearbox, forks, wheels, etc into an original Redditch frame (easy enough to do). The only English built Bullet after the traditional models ceased was a 350 unit construction model, of which few were built.

Also, an Indian Bullet from the sixties would not have been a 500, that one also has later forks and wheels.

Hi Adrian

Thanks for your feedback. i was hoping at least the engine would be redditch ..
there is always a catch in buying bullet. i should have done more research.
i haven't spend fortune on this project ...i might convert to 350 trials using clipper parts i have ,

Looks like an early Indian 350 casing by the G2 and EI numbers, does it have the pressure relief valve at the front next to the timing chest? Could have been converted to 500 cc later.

I would guess the age of your bike to be 1994 to 1997, not 1967! I had always assumed that the frames and the engines stamped with G2 numbers originated from the U.K, with the G2 number being stamped by the U.K. factory and the E.I. number stamped locally in India. This is born out as the G2 numbers have a similar size font to the U.K. bikes and the E.I. numbers are a smaller font. Otherwise why would the Indian factory stamp two different serial numbers onto a bike when they know that they are only going to use one?
Because of this I am very sceptical of any G2 number stamped on an Indian made “bolt through” frame and god knows what horrors are inside a 350 crankcase opened up for a 500 top end.
The problem is that all the so called 1960’s Indian bikes that I have seen appear to be ringers, so it is difficult to compare them with genuine examples.

Must be pretty early John, its got the screw on breather. If it's got the pressure release valve then it has to be old.
