Hi, any views, quite a price difference. Are they worth it? Reason for asking is that I have had a piston sieze slightly, and looking at the oil pumps found the spindle a little tight on one spot. So this may have been a factor? Get standard pumps and lap them in really well? If I go for the high capacity do I need to change anything else?

I have the hc pumps but I also added external oil filter and our hosts prv also have roller crank which is the reason I fitted hc pumps to get more flow. See pics

Pete the amount of money I have spent on this engine rebuild, it was a case of belt & braces hopefully an added insurance to ensure I have a good reliable machine )

It is in standard trim, save exhaust and carb. But it is lugging about a bit of weight!!!! Do you think a stiff point on the spindle turning would have had an effect on the oil circulation ?

Don't think so 555, if it's going round it's working. How stiff is it? Can you still turn by hand? Have a look at the tech notes here.

Well Steve, there's a danger of too much oil pressure with the engine cold even with the standard pumps.
Your prv does nothing to the feed pressure to the engine, just relieves excess pressure on the feed to the rockers.

Pete I am aware that the PRV does not affect the feed side, the PRV does exactly what Hitchcock's say it does, relieve pressure to the rockers, which as we all know gets over oiled, I have my engine built just how I want it now and hopefully if I don't do anything silly it should last a long time.
