hi all, I could do with some advice,, a couple of years ago I bought a hitchcocks less restrictive exsaust pipe and silencer for my 08 electra leanburn model, at the time I wasn't sure if I sould re- jet the carb or not, but as the engine started and runs fine as always i decided to leave the carb as standard. The engine still runs as sweet as a nut but the pipe is blueing,i never welly the bike ,just a steady 50-55 mph,but now im thinking maybe shes running a bit hot?? Any thoughts to what I should do? Would appreciate any advice, many thanks

I have just bought the hosts Amal Mk1 kit to go with an open exhaust, plus air filter, for my leanburn, which is as they recommend. Carb comes jetted to suit. You cant stick on an open system without affecting fuelling. Do as they advise.

Think if you open up the exhaust, then maybe air filter & carb. jets may have to change

I would try lifting the needle a notch and see what happens. Having said that "leanburn" is a bit of a clue.

Well, do as you like but fitting a new carb "jetted to suit" or otherwise is likely to bring more problems than it solves.
