Cork clutch plates

Hi all, have just seen a set of clutch plates with cork friction pads for sale on the place that should not be mentioned for £9 all in, while I don't reckon these can be any good for that money and they are for a 350 anyway so no good to Bertie, got me wondering if cork plates are any good, seem to remember my dad saying he had them on his AJS, any comments on these type of plates would be interesting?

Ariels used cork plates which ran in a separate oil-free compartment, which would be a problem with lubricating the bearings and chain in a Bullet. Word is that cork can work in oil, but Ariel advised to keep them dry. as the prophets say, suck it and see.

Side valve motors, belt-drive hand change gear box, rat-trap carbs, girder forks, cork insert clutch plates...
Why go and change a winning formula?
350/500/700/750 can all run the same plates. But do be aware that there is a difference between Cork inserts and bonded 'Cork matrix' material.
There is still a few specialist shops who reline/rebuild vintage cork clutches for all types of vehicles. The main 'problem' with Cork is that is does not cope well with higher temps.
