Electra blowing out oil

I know this is not a good thing but does anyone know why my Electra X engine is blowing out a lot of oil through the main breather? I have a catch tank which is collecting the oil and blowing out of the chaincase. Any ideas?

This has been discussed here soooooo many time before; the main breather pipe is incorrectly installed.
Check the old messages, or email me off list: royalenfield AT clear DOT net DOT nz and I will send a file with simple instruction and a sketch showing how to re-run the pipes.

Hi Graham, happened to me once when I first got my Electra X 'cos I didn't correctly follow the engine oil top up procedure, well overfull. Adam

Been there, done that: too much oil...
My procedure is to measure at the oil change the amount what comes out and then add perhaps 100-150 cc to that. Usually only 1.7 to 1.8 l comes out - nominally should be 2.2. litres. Breather is another matter, it gets stuck if bike is used only for short hops. I did change to Bunn's breather kit, might be no longer available.
