I decided to fit so decent pads the the GT today after 1250 miles of the stock poor ones.

The old pads have a lip where they overhang the disc by about 3mm for half the pad length. The caliper holds the new pads in the same position.

Has anyone else changed pads and found the same thing or do I have an issue?

Is it possible to slacken the calliper bolts to reposition the calliper so the face of the brake pads are fully covered by the disc?

Only issue I can think of is that your brake disc isn't large enough!

That might stop them applying pressure to the disc on its braking surface. Re-align the caliper? The oem and replacement pads could simple be too big. Chamfer the edge of the pads so they do not hook over the edge?

Nobbi can I just ask why the stock ones are poor? Mine seem to stop the bike on a sixpence with just two fingers . . . maybe those two fingers are try strong!!

I am coming from a life on super bikes so my view might be different from others.

Stock brakes have very little feel and initial bite. The power is there on a good hand full but I felt it could be much better.

Currently trying SBS sintered. I have run them on all my bikes for quite a while and they seem much better.

Will do the rear next week.

Some have suggested re-aligning the caliper but as far as I can see there is no adjustment.

Have other owners changed pads yet and have theirs been ok?

my 2015 Classic 500 has as good a front brake as my 2004 Bonnie. Maybe this isn't saying much, in the world of radial calipers etc, but I think it stops fine

I've tried so many makes over the years, always come back to EBC!
I bought a new set for the AVL front but never fitted them, chucked them in the 'obsolete bike parts' box only to fine they are exactly the same as 2003 Bonnie rear, so that's another source if you keep getting offered the Indian variety.
Would'nt put R.E. ones in the Bonnie though!

I would suggest the wrong pads are the culprit.

Cannot be the wrong pads. Only one type fit one caliper.

I might try and find a dealer so I can have a look at a demo bike before I complain or modify.

I wonder if Ducati 4 pots would fit....
