Hi.
Going to try atf in my chaincase, any idea which is the one to use? bike is a 2006 500 bullet.

Most folk use Type F (an older spec, originally for Fords,) but some folk say any will do. I've tried both (in a Constellation) and I think the Type F was better, the clutch action felt "stickier" with the other. I'm afraid I can't remember what it was now, it got used up in a car!

I just checked the stuff I used in mine.. says ATF type Z-1.. whatever that means. All I know is, it seems to work really well.. clutch is smooth.. no problems.

Type F has no friction modifiers; which is just what is needed for a clutch.

For years my cars have been automatic. An auto box is basically as series of clutch plates. The friction plates are cemented on with a water based glue because they run in 'solvent' which is why any water in an auto box is bad news.
ATF is essentially a water-less oil that can run in a clutch system.
ATF is the only automotive fluid allowed to be red because red usually means 'not for automotive use' as it is agricultural or a recycled product.
Any modern ATF should do the job in the chain case but do be aware some auto boxes run in a special oil rather than ATF.
