A Dowty too far...?

Hi All
I've been trying to eradicate all oil leaks from Connie, my '59 Constellation, so when changing the oil & filter the other day, I decided to use Dowty washers to seal the drain plug and got a bit carried away. I ordered an effin' big one (1.5inch BSP size fits just right) to seal the cap of the oil filter as I was getting a bit of a seep there, plus I was dismayed to find gasket goo inside on the filter from my last change.
Have I gone too far...?
I've also used Dowtys for the retaining nuts on both ends of the stud...!
The only problem is I had to buy 10 Dowtys. Now I also have a Bullet (which these fit too) so I now need another 8 Enfields!
