Hi there.I have just obtained the above bike and found that the speedo didn't work. I ascertained that the cable was not connected to the speedometer and when i tried to connect it I encounted a problem. The only way I could connect it meant that the cable had a right angled bend in it. Did the airflow model have a longer cable than the Clipper and can anyone tell me the correct run of the cable through the fairing. Thanks Nigel

For a Meteor Minor airflow, the speedo cable is 5 inches longer.

check out the Smith's accessories here...

Smiths Motor Cycle Equipment 1959

scroll down to Royal Enfield and you can see the clipper cable is 4' 4", but the clipper airflow is 4' 9" (or, several more centimetres in metric)

Next, go here...

Airflow fitting instructions 1958

which is the airflow fitting manual, and have a breeze through it. Hopefully, it will help. you should be able right click and save these PDF's if you want.

Hi Nigel,
Join the club I have a Airflow M/M and the Airflow Constellation both had your problem the problem is the front top mounting bar on the Fairing obstructs the speedos cable connection .the connection on the Speedo is to one side and not central .All I did was turn the Speedo clock wise 90 degrees so that the 30 MPH is showing directly at the top of the clock so now it is at 12 o'clock and it just clears the main Fairing bracket .Also it is easier to see that you are doing 30mph being at 12,o'clock instead of 9,o'clock . You will get a lot of comments from people looking at the Speedo at this angle ,I just say it is easier to keep an eye on the 30 limit in this position .
It could be right that the speedo is longer but fortunately I never had tochange them as they enter better and are not kinked .
Let me know how you get on
