So grandkids up and we fire up sidecar for ride, warms up nicely then cuts out. Change plug and runs great again. I know the Electra eats plugs but this is ridiculous. Just ordered a batch of new ones from here.

Some bikes can be difficult with the make of plug used, my Super Meteor destroyed NGK plugs, I now use the Champion equivalent without problems, sorry I don't know why this is, don't make sense to me but it happens.

An iridium plug did it for me though the naysayers will have it otherwise.

I had a iridium plug in the Bullet for nearly 20,000 kms, only changed it because the engine needed a `hotter` plug.

Isn't the Electra a lean burn engine? That would be a good way of "eating" plugs, I would think they run pretty hot through running lean. Maybe a colder/ harder plug would help?

...last one was an Iridium BR9EIX, and yes it did a lot of chair lugging last year with a 2005 Electra X engine.

Graham NGK 9 is too cold, should be 6, roughly equivalent to factory fitted Bosch-WR7DDC4. Which, incidentally our hosts recommend is the best plug but every armchair Brigadier on here has their own pet theory!

Hindsight is marvelous for the "notabrigadier" who can make air his wisdom on a fact not disclosed until the "brigadiers" have tried to help the chap.
