Sparking Plugs

Hi All,
After some spark plug advice. I have a 1937 Model S which is currently being rebuilt. It came with a Champion RV9YC fitted which is a 14mm plug with a 5/8 hex. Having consulted the available documentation it seems that the bike was originally fitted with a Lodge H14 which is compatible with an NGK B6HS. Both the Lodge and the NGK sport a 13/16" Hex which is too large to fit down the spark plug hole in the head.
I'll likely as not stick with the Champion plug in the short term since it fits but I'd be interested in any views you lot might have with regard to the original RE literature specifying what appears to be the wrong spark plug.
