I now considering fitting our hosts power commander kit at some time in the future on Effie. Will she be pleased? Who knows but she has a K&N style air filter already with a standard 'all blued-up' silenecr that looks like a bazooka!
Has anyone else done this conversion on the first EFI Electras that came out in 2008?

What I meant to say was......
I am now considering fitting our hosts Power Commander kit at some time in the future on Effie. Will she be pleased? Who knows but she has a K&N style air filter already with a standard 'all blued-up' silencer/bazooka pipe! Has anyone else done this conversion on EFI Electras that and how easy was it? What are the pros & cons of this and what will it give me over the existing standard 'EFI' box? Any words, wise or otherwise will be of great interest.

Fitting a power commander takes an hour at most.
Think of it as a big box of jets for a carburettor but you can set the correct fuel everywhere.
Is it worth the money on a low power thumper? Absolutely, get an open can on and the correct map and it will feel like a new bike. Extra power is not huge but uumph and smoothness are increased.

I had a power commender fitted to my Continental GT and set up carried out on a dynamometer. The performance gain wasn't a great deal but the bike is now much more pleasant to ride. I've since fitted one myself to an Electra EFI and as Nobbi says, it took about an hour.

Thanks Nobbi & CGT - I am to wiring what an elephant is to hang-gliding! - I'm presuming the power-commander goes on as a replacement for the existing ECU? Or does it sit alongside? It seems a lot of money & I'm wondering if it would justify fittine it, that's all.
Cheers again guys!

It fits inline with the current ECU. Have a look on the power commander site and there is a fitting guide

The one that I fitted myself came from Hitchcocks with easy to follow fitting instructions. Simply un-plug some connections and then plug in the power commander between the connections you've just unplugged. Very easy to do. The hardest part might be tidying up the wires afterwards.
