hi, as i stated on previous post , i have a 1948 model j, i have tried four times to make the primary case leak proof, have followed all advice given , spent hours on the internet , and it still leaks , then i see,NORM has made a model g primary leak proof, would it be possible to let us into the secret, thanks , rick

Hi Chonpuun, I typed a big reply but I lost it, so all I can say is it took me at least 60 hours and it was very satisfying to see it outside the pub the other night without a drop of oil under it

It involved fitting oil seals to the gearbox sprocket,engine sprocket and the connector tube holding the inner and outer primaries together

thanks, for that NORM, that is a lot of hours work, to have the primary leak proof, a lot of people just squirt the primary chain with oil before a ride , i think i might be one of those people. rick

Ric I put another 100 hours into the rest of it, 4 weeks 7 days a week

Rick it isn't the primary chain that really needs the oil it is the clutch hub bearing, fine as long as you don't use the clutch a lot

Leon I have been trying to shut my shed for a number of years, these bikes were ones I had promised people that I would look at and get sorted. Some take massive hours. I now only have one 1945 Enfield left here that is nearly finished, been sitting here for 18 months since I last touched it and unless the owner shows some interest in it I can't be bothered doing any more to it, it is under a cover and that is where it can stay
