Just an idle thought really,,,,,,,,,,, but do I need to leave the rubber bungs in the cooling fins on my Electra EFI? Can't help thinking it would look better without,,,,, are they actually serving any useful purpose? Or are they just there to sneak an air cooled bike through the noise regs?

The idea is to stop the fins ‘ringing’ and reduce engine noise. Try removing them and see if it makes any noticeable difference.

You certainly don't NEED to leave them on. I had an MZ with similar rubber strips once. It was a little bit "ringy" without them but certainly looked better. They were, I think, deeper fins as well.

Ah, it's as I thought then, just there to help get an air cooled engine through the noise regs. Given that my bike's running a free flow pipe with no baffles, I'm guessing I won't notice too much difference with them gone,,,,,,,,,,

In a bid to for a quieter ride, I have fitted them to my Bullet. I also use ear plugs.
Once you lose your hearing, it is gone, mate, gone.

Half of mine fell off on the first ride home from the dealer. I will take the rest off in the summer as a straight pipe will mask any ringing and I always ride with ear plugs

Really, things falling off a new Enfield, are you sure? I've never heard such a thing!
