Hi, anyone got any tips on fitting the alternator cable gromit in the chaincase of a bullet. Have broken one trying so before I try with another...

I had a similar problem recently. I solved it by taking a Stanley knife to the grommet and thinning down the smaller diameter. In doing so, it became very thin but I managed to fit it. Not sure how long it will last... Think these items are a bit over-sized to fit properly.
Good luck

Try a little silicone oil squirt on it to encourage it to slip in.

Petrol makes the rubber real slippery. Dip in petrol in slip in in quick.

Buy a tube of rubber grease. You will find it a brilliant additional tool.

It gets covered in oil in use so why not just use oil to lubricate it, it is obviously oil resistant, or should be.

That's how I've done it the few times it has been necessary. Yes it is a bit fiddly but so what it works with a dollop of cheapo Wilko 20/50.

Thanks for all your replies. I have been using washing up liquid but try with oil and see if it's any easier.
