I plan, in order to make space in the shed, to put bike outside under a waterproof cover. I was wondering if there were any problems with keeping it on a trickle battery charger from battery fumes? Any thoughts?

I had a bike that the pervious owner had done that too, I named it "Rusty". That besides, I am not sure if this would contribute to the 'Hindenburg effect' or not. Depends on ventilation., type of charger, wether cover is fireproof, etc.

Well, if you need the room you need the room but spend some time wiping down the shiney bits with Waxhoyl or something first. It might be better to take the battery off the machine and charge it in the shed but the relatively small amount of hydrogen given off would certainly not be a problem outside. I don't take any special precautions inside.

Unless it's one of those sealed all enveloping covers - that might build up a problem I suppose.

Both My Enfields Liver under a Cover in the garden, A Nice Thin Lose Cover that Flaps in the Wind and lets plenty of air in = Little or No Rush.
My long term storage Enfield Has its (RS Sealed ex Firm Alarm) Battery disconnected to prevent drain,yet starts the bike every month or so 2nd Kick.
My Weekly Used Enfield has never need the Std Battery Charging in 5 years..Of Course these are K/S Models so if yours is an E/S why Not take off and Just Charge in the Shed..But I bet ya10p they will be all Right... Enjoy

Craig, why do you start your long term storage bike regularly? Unless you get it thoroughly warmed up you are doing more harm than good. Turn it over now and again if you want but starting it is not a good idea unless you are going for a decent run. Just my opinion.

Surely it deserves a lean-to at the very least? cheaper if done with that corrugated plastic for the roof!

Ralph`s extension would be considered illegal in Brisbane, a permit is required before things like that can be built; it`s to stop `Jerry builders` putting up dangerous erections. No incinerators are allowed either, nothing can be burned at all(take it to the dump) because of smoke pollution laws, i.e. Chinese cities.

I'm glad I don't live in Brisbane then.
I don't fool myself that the UK is a free country anymore but at least we can have a non dangerous erection

Didn't take long to get mucky Just to explain - it is Yam engined bantam trail bike with a difficult to remove battery built by me to be moved out temporarily to make way for a new build project. Loose waterproof cover in a narrow passage between house and fence. So thanks for the advice.
