The current 500 EFi has an ECU driving everything. Can anyone please explain how the ignition timing works?
and can it be adjusted?

Ignition timing on EFIs is set by ‘registers’ on the flywheel which send signals to the ECU of crank position. The sensor scans 23 short protrusions and 1 long protrusion which is set 5 degrees BTC, this is its reference mark. It is not adjustable and should never have reason to be adjusted.

Thanks Presto. I thought it might be the crank, didn't know the technical. I presume the ECU does the actual spark timing advance/retard according to its 'map'. I wonder how the Power Commander V (fitted) monkeys with that?
