Royal Enfield Bullet 2007 Front Brake:
The slot that stops the whole thing revolving seems to be very slightly bigger than the bit that goes in it. There is therefore a bit of play when it tries to revolve. Any experiences of this, please? There doesn't seem to be any way of adjusting it apart from a shim?
Ignore? Shim? Other? Many thanks, Chris

Old british bike fitment, not unique to RE. It would be completely useless if the slot was smaller than the tongue on the fork. Yes there is some play but in practice the wheel only rotates in one direction. Is the tongue part of the fork or bolted to it? - I seem to remember it being a moveable wedge that can be adjusted.

Papasmurf; I wrote it in a "bit" of a hurry as my dinner was just being put out.... no excuse. (But it WAS nice!) The picture here shows the first "Bit" I wrote, which should show JEFRS exactly how it is. But I wrote "Bit" twice, the second one being about 6 thou. This works perfectly well as far as riding, braking etc goes.
Only concern being THAT it moves at all (Ok, Ok, it's RE) and that it could end up causing wear.
Jefrs, I agree that it wouldn't be any good if the slot were smaller; I just optimistically thought they might be the SAME!
Any more comments welcomed, thanks, Chris

Only 6 thou, it must line up accurately then. I am astounded it is that tight a fit.

Well I took the wheel off and cleaned the bits of dust out of the inside. Put it all back together and it looks very good now. So I am happy with that and thanks for the replies. Have a good week, Chris

It should not be harder to turn unless you are over tightening it.
Have you got a spacer the wrong side of the spindle, which would allow the bearings have lateral pressure put on them when normally a shoulder prevents that happening.
