How do you clean a finned rear hub on a 1995 Bullet , it's all furred up and a bugger to clean .

A length of thin leather strapping/belt, looped very loos;y around the hub, tie a knot in the leather. As the wheel spins the loose loop of leather cleans/polishes the hub...

I tried a dog chain but that only goes deep , it's the sides I cant get , the spokes are a real bother , when I Fury it I'll vapour blast the thing then give it a coat of lacquer or do away with the set up and go for the conical hub but so many bits are needed like the 3 type cush drive and sprocket and many other bits , beats me why they went for the finned hub anyway as it cools nothing , a scoop on the brake plate would surfice , mine never gets hot anyway even in Sydneys stop start go traffic . By the way it's a cool place to hide pot ....not that I condone that sort of thing but the space behind the plate is the last place to look unless they have a sniffer dog . Have you taken Drugs Sir ....Man I am a drug , why do you think I ride a Meth fueled Royal Enfield ?....Alan I know you might delete this .

When I say conical hub as per BSA it's not it's just the old steel waisted hub and I dont know if it will fit a 1995 swing arm , I'm sure our hosts will help me on this but it will be easy to clean and might be lighter , not sure if staineless spokes will fit a 18" flanged rim as my spokes have rusted , Quality control was shocking in 95 exports , 1 shock is good but the other rusted very badley , in fact this is just the tip of the iceburg , wiring is shocking and I went through a few regulators before going for the Boyer which is great , I had to chrome all nuts and bolts as the zink was crap , I do love my Enfield and just want to make it even better , a bike is for life in my mind , belt drive clutch and our hosts fancy 5 speed UK made gearbox is on my list as well eventhough I did the close ratio job with new lay shaft bushes ( bronze ) but the selector springs will snap at any given point so I carry spares in my tool kit , OO grease is a must for the Albion box , just mix it with some engine oil to thin it down a tad...man OO grease is so thick it takes ages to pore in , and just as a foot note get some epoxy glue to seal the bush gear operator pin as it weeps .

Electric toothbrush. Then there's a giant one called a "SonicScrubber" for detailing, also found in homewares stores. Manual detailing brushes. For the spokes, a spoke brush (several shapes). Farecla do a thing they call a "UniBall", a foam ball that fits on an electric drill, for cleaning wheels. I oiled the chain so now the rim is covered in a mix of autumn crud and grease but the spokes won't rust. Use the oily rag to prevent rusting. To make grease pour, warm it up.

Just a thought - Epoxy deteriorates with heat. If you want to get it off, take it over 100°C. There are some high temperature 'liquid metal' cements, some like epoxy do not resist oil and grease well, read the destructions. Try Loctite on the pin.

I moved to Nerang QLD as Sydney became so expensive , the Epoxy will come off with a cold chisle and belive me over the last 20 years I tried everything but it would still weep , new sprocket felts are a must at every chain case removal , OO grease is used for a good reason as the layshaft bushes do wear out fast if not used , I polish the selector system every time I go in and the gear operator assembly must be set just right so my box is as smooth as silk , did you know Albion made boxes for lathes for many many years but went bust when the Enfield company died , I think they put all their eggs in one basket after the war .I like the sonic scrubber idea but will it get the fins next to the spokes ? The leather strap idea sounds good but might catch on the spokes .

Somewhere along the way, I have a feeling that Enfield bought Albion at some stage. if this is correct, then it would explain the synchronised disappearance of both.
Is this correct guys?

Bristles are roughly about 5/8-in 15mm long, several heads. It's just a big electric toothbrush, takes a lot of the elbow out i.e. it actually works, not another useless gadget. I don't know how deep the ins are, maybe try a stiff old paintbrush.
