Hello all. Looking for help please with my 63 reg GT535. Took it out today and all was well. Stopped for petrol 2 miles from home and then it wouldn't start off the button. I did manage to get it going with the kickstart and got it home. It was running a bit rough on the way home though and the speedo needle was doing a merry dance around the clock. Further investigation revealed a constant clicking from a relay behind the left hand side panel. It's the middle relay of the three that are grouped vertically .... can anyone tell me what this relay is for and if it is a common fault please.

Many Thanks
Beangoose

is it one of those plug in relays (many are), then pull it out and see what stops working. (starter, indicators, other things)

Perversely a fully charged 12 volt battery in good condition should show 13.2volts.
It should still be over 12 volts after a week of the bike not being used.
Then there is does it hold that charge, connected, if not does it hold the charge disconnected.
With the engine above tick-over the battery should be being charged at over 14 volts and below 15 volts.
I have had batteries the optimate charger shows no problem but a "drop" test does.
