Hi all has anyone fitted brake/tail LEDs, and if so what were your experience of them? And where did you get them, I fitted some from eBay and was most disappointed nowhere near as bright as the original bulb and not much difference between tail and brake brightness, I thought they would be too dangerous to ride like that so have removed and see about returning them.

Try my mate Pete at
http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/ for top quality LEDs in a huge range. I've just fitted his new dipping headlight bulb and I'm very pleased with it. He has these made to his own spec and they are not supplied by anyone else.

Red led's will not show bright through a red lens or light up the number plate, white is a bit better but not as bright as a standards bulb.

1157 led bulbs are very bright, and also have a white section to light the number plates. They don't work on older positive earth bikes though.

Mark, What bases does this guy do on his dippable headlamp bulbs? I have a H4 type on Kevin and a British Pre-Focus on Tornado.

Scaley, I'm not sure about all the base types, have a look on his site, it's all there. I have a BPF in my Interceptor. A small bonus is that the bulbs are multi voltage, ie 6 to 24 volt so if you want to move them between vehicles you can!

MarkH, I was wary because I had a bad experience with some stuff bought from a well known jumble trader. Was dubious about Pete's stuff until I fitted out both Bullet & Flash but I am quite happy with the result

I put LED stop/tail, headlamp pilot and the two casquette pilots on my Connie and am pleased with the result. Got them from Paul Goff. My bike is -ve Earth, which makes for more choice though...
Headlamp LEDs sound like a great idea Mark, as I'm still close to alternator capacity with the lights on! Shall investigate your source too...

Red LEDs are much brighter when seen through a red lens than the white ones simply because no lumens are harmed during the filtration process
