hi all
just getting my 1960 crusader sport ready for m.o.t. test.Been laid up for 4years,on start up and
short road test, oil I think gear oil is coming from the lower opening where the chain goe's back
into the drive sprocket.
where is it coming from? does not seem to leak out when traveling{no oil build up on stand or on wheel.
sorted out lack of spark with a bit of head scratching found black and white wire from c/b points
chaffed on timing cover and going to earth

It will probably be gear oil, the seal on the gearbox mainshaft has a very basic felt seal and does tend to dribble. (although some are worse than others!) Replacement involves a fairly major engine strip so if it's not too bad and you can live with it, I would! There is a group for 250 Owners at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Cru ... group/info where there is lots of help and info. Good luck!
