Hi all,
whent for ride this morning but only got 1 mile when engine stopped,checked and 15amp fuse blown? replaced it started fine but when I put lights on ammpmeter whent straight to discharge and engine stopped.Turn lights off engine starts and run OK.have checked connections etc. but electrics are not my strong point and I dont know where to start looking.
as soon as lights on engine stops ampmeter swings to negative??????????????
any help gratefully recieved

Sounds like a short somewhere in the wiring going to the lights, not much to be done except look through all the wiring leading to the lights and checking for striped or otherwise exposed wires.

Check the rear wiring harness, it can rub through and cause a direct short. It can be unplugged under the seat. it is probably the only wire bundle running to the rear. Once unplugged put a fresh fuse in and try turning on the lights. If the fuse stays intact,and the front lights come on, you have found the culprit.
