Hi all
I have been smashing my head against a brick wall here.
I am working on a 64 series 1 interceptor fitted with a powerspark ignition pickup. I cant get a regular spark at the plugs from it. I seem to get a few good sparks then i get 1 for every 4 that should spark.
I have replaced the plugs, coil, leads and cleaned the earths. I cant think of anything else. I have tried copper core leads and the silicone leads that powerspark recommend
Please help.
Thanks ed

Forgot to mention the bike is fitted with a 18d2 distributor and i have tried re-fitting a new set of original points. I can get a good regular spark across the points but it doesnt translate to the plugs

Hi Ed, This sounds like a system I was asked to make work on a Series II. There was a disc with one slot in it rotating at half engine speed on the camshaft end, passing one pickup. There were sparks at both plugs, at the same time - one of which was rather weak - every 720 degrees of crank rotation. The bike could be made to run fine on either cylinder, by adjusting the timing but not both together. We junked it in the end and fitted a Boyer and it ran fine straight off. It would also have run fine on its' original points system in all probability. The electronic ignition system we removed would have worked fine on a twin plugged single, though. Cheers, Paul.

I'm not familiar with this system but does it have a condenser? The symptoms suggest it might be duff.

It doesnt use a condensor it is a straight magnet and trigger unit. I have had loads of advice from mark and the interceptor forum. But i have spent today getting the SM ready for the home counties rally tomorrow so battle will resume on monday with the interceptor.
Thanks
