Not seen this stuff until recently, but it looks like anyone who makes their own wiring looms might benefit: 12 core trailer flex.
The 7 core version is still enough for a basic 12V wiring loom for an old bike, but when you start to include those few little extras the additional colours are handy. Just right for the current project bike, and available
via a well-known auction web site near your computer.
The new trailer plugs are actually 13 pin, with the 13th pin ominously un-used. EU conspiracy theorists form an orderly queue...

Hi Adrian - that's great news. I've used the 7-core version a couple of times on previous RE projects and it works a treat. 12-core is a real bonus for more complicated wiring setups. Thanks for the info!

Various gauges available of the seven core, not sure about the twelve. In some types the earth is a bit thicker which is useful.

Papasmurf, that's exactly the same type cable as mine, just from a different ebay supplier. Mine was £8.something for a 2m length. There are seven thinner cables and five thicker ones for higher currents: 7 x 0.65mm2 1 x 1.5mm2 4 x 2.5mm2. That should cover everything.
If you're sticking with 7 core, I'd go for the heavier duty stuff in the grey outer sheath.

I rewired both my Bullets with fairly heavy gauge wire (both 6V) which was left over from a car restoration my father had done in the 80's. Rather than bind the thing up with electrical tape which soon looks hideous I had the harness fully braided by a local company that makes racing braid for yachts. They do it in Dacron and in any colour you like. I got black with red flecks. Very fetching and original looking.

It's the garden table, Scaly. I thought you'd like to see all the different colour wires, now we all know how to post a picture! This seemed the best way to hold the end of the cable. A.

yeah ok, that works!
I used 0.9mm telephone cable on thing like this before, including my Master clock system, but this stuff looks more the stuff for outdoors!
A good fat red for +ve earth, fat black/white for power, Yes this looks good.
