Hello fellow Enfielders. Another question. When starting my B5 EFI from cold there is pronouced clicking from top end. I thought it might be the hydraulic tappets, but could it be the auto de_compressor? It goes away after about 30 seconds or so.

If it's a clicking noise that goes away as it warms up a bit or stops if you give the throttle a blip then it is most likely the auto de-compressor. It has done that on mine since day one and doesn't seem to cause any bother. It generally doesn't re-occur if the engine is hot and I re-start it after a while.

I have never come across any cure for it on this message board.

Have you tried leaving at TDC on compression when leaving the bike to see if that makes any difference to the sound the hydraulic tappets make on initial start up?
