Battery slopes backwards

My Electra X (ish) which was made out of spare parts in a shed in Oxfordshire, to resemble a 1955 Bullet 500 Trials bike has a battery which slopes backwards, to the point I have to unclamp the battery and level it up to check the acid level.
Can this cause a problem in the long term?
I may bite the Bullet, (ha ha) and fit a gel filled battery when the current one dies.

As long as the lead plates are submerged in acid ,shouldn't be a problem papasmurf.

Surely there must be a way to straighten the battery carrier, otherwise you will have too much water in the battery when the bike is level. Just do it.

Leon, the battery carrier is not bent, the entire bike slopes backwards, due to short Hagon shocks I had to fit as part of the process of lowering the bike to fit my little legs.

Can't you make up a short strip of metal, drilled at both ends, to move the top carrier mount forwards?

Nettshubby, I intend to fit a gel filled "military" type battery at some stage. It is a major operation to level the battery.
