Does anyone know what the grade is of the three 1/4" BSF screws used to retain the clutch spring plate ('Cap')? I have some R grade HTS and want to know if these are correct.
Also, the factory manual gives the tightening torque as 30Nm (22 FtLb) and this seems extremely high. What is the correct value?

The 30Nm refers to the oil filler plug, although just nip it up. 9.5 Nm is the torque for the pressure plate screws in my notes, must have got that from the manual and I've had no problems using it.

Thanks - that's the setting I would have gone with based on previous Bullets, though my Electra manual reads "Clutch cap screws - (oil filler plug) 30 Nm". Rather confusing and perhaps beyond the yield point of a 1/4" bolt.

As a follow-up, does anyone know the bolt grade, or can let me know what the lettering reads on the bolt head if you have one apart right now?

I've just had access to an other original Electra X and the factory-fitted screws are stamped 'R'.

R could stand for Reject, Rubbish, or Right handed.
