Dear all

I have a 1995 reg Indian export Bullet - which the previous owner had converted to single seat etc. I wish to further age it with further retro 1940's/50s style bits. What is the legal position if it no longer has indicators / stop light switch operated from front brake lever etc.?
thanks

You need indicators unless the bike was first used before 1 August 1986, or is an 'off road' machine designed to carry only the rider.
Bikes used on or after 1/04/1986 need a brake light operated from both the front and rear brake.
That is unless you have no front or rear position lights fitted then you don't need any lights at all.

Hello SEADOG ------JOHN M is quite correct with that info. However the regs. don't actually state that you must have two at the front and two at the rear. Have a look at PAUL GOFF ELECTRICS web site where you will find these handlebar-end lights. }------------BAR END INDICATORS

Same prices as above ---------------------------- two of my friends have these fitted on 1965 BSA B40 WD bikes and until they are actually working you'd hardly notice them. Oh yes--- they have both been through several MoT tests ---so no probs with acceptance there. Hope that helps with the retro look ?
