Advance springs for 500 Twin 1952

Hi, I would need the advance springs 417504 for the distributor 40168 in my 500 Twin. Mr. H. does not have them, Martin Jay needs to send my old springs to find the matching one in his stock but I don´t want to send them out as I am afraid of loosing them in the post like other parts in the past. Could you recommend me some other source to ask at or can someone trade with me? Thanks, Pike.

Pike, I was going to suggest The Distributor Doctor (Martin Jay) and I still think he's your best bet. Could you measure them and send him that? If he tells you how he selects them (weight test? I don't know!) you could do the same with yours. Why do you need new springs, are you sure yours are worn out? In case you haven't got the originals, you need to know that the 2 springs are different, they are both very fine but one is much lighter than the other. I have a 53 Meteor with distributor so I know your problem!

Hi Pike, If your distributor is the type that sticks up out of the dynamo, it is basically the same as the ones on the Ariel Square Fours, apart from the points cam, so Draganfly might be able to help with parts. Some bits, like the bob weights and, possibly, springs are also the same as in the Crusader 250 machines. Cheers, Paul.
