A few weeks ago I put on a new rear tyre tube & rim tape all went well. I went for the first decent run Tuesday since doing it and got a Puncture small nail. Lucky I only noticed it as I got home and went to push the bike back into shed. Ordered another new tube yesterday and it arrived this morning good service from hitchcocks. Only hard work now is changing it yet again.

I don't mean to deprive our hosts of well earned revenue but would not a small patch on the original tube not have sufficed?

It probably would have done but I don't like to use patched tubes as a permanent repair only as a temp get you home measure. As I've got to go too all the hassle of taking the wheel & tyre off I thought I may as well just stick a new tube in and keep the old one as a spare.

Sounds fair enough. I had a series of tyre disasters with the Ducati a while back where I managed to puncture three tubes fighting a tyre onto the front rim. Finally succeeded only to then decide to replace both rims with replated ones. Couldn't risk fighting old hard tyres onto the new chrome so bought new Metzlers which almost fell on with the careful use of my bare foot. New tyres, tubes, rim tapes and rims what a treat!

A few years back four of us went for a long weekend tour of Wales on four bikes. Over the course of the four days all four bikes got rear wheel punctures all on different roads and at different times. Incredible. :-(
