2015 bullet to classic and back again.

Dear all,
this has been a long time coming, but finally a 2015 Forest Green Bullet EFI has provisionally got my name on it, or at least my deposit. I was hooked some time ago in the 1990's after riding a Bullet in India. Only now do time and resources allow me to finally get my hands on one. But, inevitably, I have some questions being new to Enfields. I've sat on a lot, listened to a lot and done a lot of reading, but the model names do confuse me a little. I quite fancied a Classic battle green (well, I'm an old fashioned sort of guy), but the kids would kill me as they wanted to ride pillion to school on dad's new noisy motorbike (it's only 500 yards down the road, but the principle is important, even though I would have to make two trips), so I considered getting a long seat for it. Then I looked at the standard Bullet, which of course has the long seat anyway. Then I looked back at the 'Classic' and wondered why the price difference? It seems to be the same chassis and engine, and the only differences I could see are the battery cover, seat, colour scheme and rear mudguard. Am I missing something? Could you change the 'Bullet' style to the 'Classic' style and back again with just a few bolt-on parts and if so, why the £500 price difference between them?

Also, I assume in the Hitchcocks catalogue, the 2015 'Bullet' and 'Classic' comes under the B5 EFI compatibility?

I had to make this choice last summer. As far as I can see, the difference in price appears to be purely a marketing decision. The Bullet 500 is the one that has the most "original"-looking bodywork, whereas the Classic is supposed to be a bit more, well, classy, I think.



They also did an Electra, which was priced somewhere between the two (I think - is that right?) but I believe it has been discontinued now.



I think these prices are all about perceived value and marketing. Personally I chose the B5 and don't regret my choice for a moment.



By the way, you can get a little seat for the Classic that will carry a pillion.



The basic frame is identical between the Classic and the B5, but I don't know if they changed any lug locations to suit the new bodywork. It is possible. Someone will be along soon who will know for sure.

Thanks for the insight, they are both beautiful machines and I spent about two hours with the very patient and very helpful John of P&D Motorcyles in Wakefield trying to decide between them. I may yet change my mind...

By the way, no idea why my first ever post appeared twice, I'm not usually such a numpty.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to see if I can get a pass out from the wife - she thinks I already spend too much time with old motorbikes and old cameras as it is...

So is the 'classic' such as the battle green and desert storm listed as a C5, and the 2015 Bullet listed as a B5? Oh now I'm confused...
