Camshaft shims for a 612

Please could anybody tell me if it's OK to fit the shims on both side of the sports cams , is there enough room rather the outer side rubbing on alloy ? Plus the timing side woodrough key seems too big and has to be filed down a bit or it would foul the pinion .

Phil, not sure why you would want to fit a shim on the inside, the cam runs up against the spindle, shim on the outside stops the cam running up against the timing cover

Hi Phil, I,m not sure why the key would need filing. The timing side of the long stroke crank should be exactly the same as the original. Perhaps a light rub on a wet stone but the key needs to be a good fit in the slot and may need a gentle tap to seat it. Best not to start filing until you understand the problem.

Woodruff keys are supposed to be a tightish fit. Deburr them carefully OK deburr the slot carefully OK, but beyond that No.
