Hello,
I'm resotoring a RE 125 (flying flea) and would like some help identifying what year it is. it still has the early solid forks with the bands of rubber for the front suspention, On/off switch on the headlights (miller electrics) and the expansion "bulb" style on the exsaust, so from what i can gather it puts the year around 1948. Can anyone help me confirm the year? the serial number on the frame and engine is RE17052

Join the Royal Enfield owners Club and get a Machine Dating Certificate. The club has the original Factory records and will be able to tell you exactly when it was built and which Dealer it was sent to. The membership is cheap enough and worth it for this information alone.

I just found a document which suggests this number is earlier than 1946, it is just lower than the first number for that year. In which case it *might* be an ex-WD bike in which case it's value would go up, military bikes being more highly prized apparently. However, the only definitive answer will come from the REOC.
